“Celebrating the music that heals us”
Midori was born in Japan. She started taking lessons in calligraphy, music and visual art when she was in pre-school. Her first oil painting was a still life when she was 9 years old. She has received a calligrapher's name when she was sixteen. She also has learnt the tea ceremony, the flower arrangement and the old Japanese literatures. She moved to Australia and has been lived in Sydney's Northern Beaches since 1989.
Midori has been participating in more than 100 various art exhibitions in Australia for the last 7 years. She has won many awards, including two first prizes in the Figurative and Contemporary sections at Northern Suburbs A&H Society Art exhibition in 2006.
She loves music and she often translates her love of music into art. On her canvases she paints her dreams and concepts of love and music.
Midori ran a successful workshop, "Make up Your Mind", at Manly Library in May 2009. More than 70 mothers and daughters attended the workshop and enjoyed drawing with old make up products. "Make up Your Mind" art exhibition took part in the Manly Arts Festival 09.
She also organised the t-shirt exhibition, "Womanly" at Manly Cove Beach with Angela van Boxtel in the Manly Arts Festival 09. It was a fantastic display with over 100 T-shirts from all over the world on a long cloth line at the beach.
She is organising a list of the artists for the art program at Bear Cottage in Manly. It is a voluntary service by the artists for the children and their families who stay at Bear cottage. Midori’s always actively participating in the art community.
Midori writes and shares her knowledge on art magazines. The Demonstration of "How to paint" series has been published in the art magazine, "Fine Art & Decorative Painting" Vol.16 No.10, Vol.16 No.11, Vol.17 No.2(Nov 09) and Vol.17 No.3(Dec 09).
She shares the studio with some artists at Eramboo-Artists Environment Centre, Terrey Hills.
